Video Recording Submission Guidelines
Banddirector.com will coordinate with YouTube for the 2008 - 09 National Concert Band Exhibition. Videos will be hosted on YouTube but displayed within the exhibition webpage on Banddirector.com.
Video Recording Entry Process
1. Register your band to participate with the 2008 - 09 National Concert Band Exhibition at either HSBDNA or Banddirector.com websites before deadline.
2. We show you how to create a FREE ‘YouTube’ account at www.youtube.com . This account is necessary to participate in the National Concert Band Exhibition.
3. We show you how to upload your performance video to your YouTube account. At this time you will receive a URL link for your video (save this link).
4. Submit your URL video link to Banddirector.com for participation before the posted deadline. (See Exhibition page for URL upload information).
5. Submit all information relating to your performance selection to banddirector.com before deadline. See Exhibition Timeline Schedule.
What to Include in Your Video Recording Entry
1. The Video recording entry must be no longer than 10 minutes total. (Including audio/video introduction). See Sample> (introduction can be done by the director, principal.
2. All music performed must be a complete selection or movement of a published composition.
3. Each video performance must be one continuous recording. Evidence of editing multiple "takes" during the selection (excluding introduction editing) will result in disqualification.
4. Bands may enter one video recording with 2 selections as long as the total time does not exceed the 10 minute time limit and both pieces are complete selections.
5. Video recording entries must begin with a verbal announcement of your School and Band Dirctor’s Name, Date, Location and the title, composer, arranger and difficulty level of the music. Although no editing of the actual performance portion of the video is allowed you may edit the verbal introduction to the beginning of the performance portion.
6. After completing your audio/video verbal introduction, begin playing your selection(s). Your video recording should end immediately after you finish performing.
What NOT to Include in Your Video Recording Entry
DO NOT INCLUDE:
1. Opening/closing credits, either digitally or manually created. Including credits or similar enhancements may result in penalties or disqualification.
2. Visual and audio enhancements or aids as stated in the Rules & Regulations. Any obvious or suspected manipulation of audio-visual elements will result in disqualification.
3. Non-performing individuals. Limit the participants appearing in your video to your performing band members and the conductor.
4. Action/speech outside of your introduction. Superfluous movement or speaking will distract from your performance and negatively influence your final score.
5. An audible or visual metronome beat will result in disqualification.
