Maynard, MA: The newest 700 series flutes from Sonaré Winds have the elegant sparkle of 14k rose gold. These flutes also have the famous Powell Sound which originates with Verne Q. Powell Flutes, the parent company of Sonaré Winds.
Each Sonaré flute has a body made with the Modern Powell Scale at the Boston area workshop using Powell's patented Zinki technology. The flute body, in combination with the hand cut Powell headjoint, produce an instrument that retains much of the projection, colors, and intonation for which Powell is known.
One of the first to see the new models was Fred Schiff, owner of All County Music in Tamarac, Florida and a long time Sonaré dealer. Schiff had encouraged Sonaré to develop these models. When they were shown at All County's private sale last week, first impressions were extremely positive. Attendees at this past weekend's NYSSMA conference got a sneak peek and the SF-708 model was the star of the show!
The rose gold plated flutes come in three basic configurations:
SF-707: Our popular 705 model dressed up with a Gold plated lip plate and crown.
SF-708: The entire body and headjoint are gold plated, and the keys are silver plated. This two-tone instrument is attractive and the unique color combination makes the flute stand out in a crowd.
SF-709: The entire flute is rose gold plated which increases the depth of sound, as well as provides a visually stunning instrument.
The President of Sonaré Winds and Powell Flutes, Steven Wasser, was very enthusiastic about the new models. "We think there is strong demand for a professional sounding flute that also offers the professional look. Additional benefits are the tarnish resistance and hypoallergenic nature of gold compared to silver, as well as the modest price of these flutes."
The new gold flutes will make their official debut at NAMM in January 2009. Most models are already in stock and are being shipped following inspection by Sonaré technicians. The Sonaré gold flutes are priced from $2,200 (MAP).
Sonaré Winds remains committed to providing exceptional acoustical performance and value by partnering with world renowned instrument makers including Powell Flutes, Blackburn trumpets and Schreiber-Keilwerth. Sonaré manufactures flutes and trumpets and serves as U.S. distributor for Keilwerth saxophones, York Brass, and Schreiber Bassoons.
