National OnLine Concert Band Exhibition
Rules & Regulations
1. Open to US High School and Middle School bands performing state listed music levels 3, 4, 5 or 6.
2. Performance video submitted must be performed by the band registered and of the current 2008-09 school calendar year.
3. All band members participating in the concert band performance must be registered students of the school.
4. The National Online Concert Band Exhibition will have four difficulty levels to enter:
level 3 music, level 4 music, level 5 music, and, level 6 music with level 6 being the most difficult.
5. Regular Registration: August 1, 2008 – February 28, 2009 Entry Fee - $100.00.
Late Registration: March 1, 2009 – March 21, 2009 Entry Fee - $150.00

March 21, 2009: Deadline to submit video recording of performance.
6. Entries must be submitted according to the Submission Guidelines – available online. Posted deadlines are binding and will not be altered for any entrant for any reason.
7. All submitted performance video entries must be recorded in one take and must be a complete work or movement. Entries that consist of multiple takes pieced together or incomplete works will be disqualified.
8. Video recordings must begin with a verbal/video announcement of:
a. Name of your School
b. Name of the Band Director
c. Date and Location recorded
d. Title, composer and arranger
e. Difficulty level of music. (level 3 - level 6)
Although no editing of the actual performance portion of the video is allowed you may splice the verbal introduction to the beginning of the performance portion. Submission Guidelines – available online.
9. Proper concert attire is recommended.
10. Video recordings must be a maximum of 10 minutes (including verbal announcement). Entries that continue for longer than ten (10) minutes will be disqualified. Submission Guidelines – available online.
11. Entries must be of a sufficient audio and video quality for judge to render a fair
and accurate evaluation. We realize not all bands have access to professional
audiovisual recording equipment and will make allowances. Entries of poor
quality sufficient to obstruct the judging process will be disqualified at the
judges' discretion.
12. Your concert video performance will be available to the public online at
Banddirector.com.
Judges' ratings and comments will not be made public and
will be presented only to each band director at the end of the exhibition.
13. In keeping with the purpose of this exhibition, to encourage musical excellence and fair play, Banddirector.com/HSBDNA may disqualify any entry at their discretion in case of obvious or suspected infraction of any rules. This includes but is not limited to, obvious or suspected manipulation of audio-visual elements, enhancements or aids. Banddirector.com and HSBDNA reserve the right to determine what constitutes unfair play and may take appropriate action if deemed necessary. 14. Entries containing foul language or inappropriate content will be disqualified.
Foul language is defined as language not appropriate for a professional
public performance setting. Inappropriate content includes nudity, sexuality or
other obscene elements. Questionable elements will be evaluated at the judge’s
discretion.
15. All submissions must be strictly noncommercial. Any submission featuring any
type of implied or blatant endorsement, verbal, visual or otherwise, of any
product or commercial entity of any kind will be disqualified.
16. All entrants must have a valid e-mail address and must check it frequently.
17. The Judge reserves the right to disqualify or reject any entries based upon aforementioned reasons. All judge’s decisions are final.
