Hello everyone! I am a music ed major at a state university. For one of my classes, I am supposed to design a budget for a highschool band program. One thing I am stuck on is instruments.
WHAT BRAND OF INSTRUMENTS DO YOU RECOMMEND THAT ARE OF GOOD QUALITY, BUT WON'T BREAK MY BUDGET? (I AM PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN WOODWINDS.)
Thank you for your input!!!

Ginny,

There are a couple brands that come to mind, and I'll focus on the woodwinds. If you can't afford Yamaha, which in my opinion makes the best student level instruments, then Jupiter makes a very nice student level flute that won't break the bank. Also, look into a brand named "Accent" - they are instruments made by major manufactures under the name Accent, and are good quality, lower price. Go to www.accent.cc and you'll be able to check it out. They have good flutes and clarinets. For saxophones, again, Yamaha makes the best, but you'll be able to find Vito saxophones for a slightly lower price. Good luck!

If you're looking for instrument brand names, use the website and go to the "Search For" categories on the left side of the home page, and you'll be able to find a bunch of different instrument company websites.

I can vouch for Accent's flutes. My supplier's (St John's Music) road rep recommended Accent as a slightly less expensive alternative to Yamaha, "meeting or exceeding Yamaha's standard." She's a flautist and an old friend on long standing, so I took her word, took the plunge, and haven't looked back!
