I heard that Jupiter Band Instruments makes world class quality instruments that are manufactured in factories that are ISO 9001 certified. Does anyone know about this certification?

ISO 9001 is the same standards used in many different areas of manufacturing, such as appliances, automobiles, electronics, etc. When a manufacturing company applies for ISO certification, its manufacturing and quality control procedures undergo an intensive review by an independent auditing agency. Every aspect of the manufacturing process is studied and, where necessary, upgraded to meet a strict international standard. This can even include outside suppliers. In addition, it often means that the company has invested in additional training for its production and engineering personnel. The Jupiter factories are some of the most state-of-the-art facilities in the world. The consistancy level of their instruments has improved greatly since receiving their ISO certification.

Well it is advertising but it certainly is not free. It takes a lot of time and money to upgrade their manufacturing equipment to meet these standards. It also requires that they have a competent workforce that can handle the high standards. Over all, it is an effective attribute to add to their brand, but while it may help in sales, they have to make sure they hold to these standards
