I'm in my fifth year teaching and have struggled with how to get middle school kids to practice. I've been doing practice sheets, but I've come away feeling that the kids who turn them in would practice anyway, but the majority either don't turn them in or lie on them. Does anyone have suggestions on motivating kids to practice?

With practice I have found that weekly test work very well. The main weapon that we have is to be just as relentless and annoying as some of our students are. "Teaching is 10% knowing your content area and 10% acctually knowing how to teach. The other 80% just consists of constant reminders and demands for results."
