Pass/Fail Testing Approach

Hey All,

 

A few colleagues of mine have implemented a pass/fail approach to playing tests.  The idea being, we expect all students to be able to play their part at the concert at a "mastered" so we should expect them all to play their tests at a "mastered" level.  The have set test days - but students can go at their own pace so long as they test off by the end of the grading period.  

 

If a kid fails the first time, they can retest until they have mastered the material.  The are unable to go on until they pass the previous test.  Can't do test 6 until you pass 1-5.

 

Have you ever done that, any ideas how to make it work?
